About

I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience working in mental health settings across the NHS, third sector, and private sector.

I have spent many years helping people to understand themselves more deeply in therapy. I use evidence-based psychological therapies to help people find meaning, improve relationships, and reduce suffering.

I have experience working with a range of mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, unresolved trauma, difficulties expressing emotions, and intimacy issues. I have a proven track record of supporting individuals through talking therapy.

Alongside my private practice, I also hold a senior position in a London-based mental health service.

Considering therapy can be a significant decision. After reviewing the information on my website, I recommend arranging a 15-minute phone call with me. This will give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, share what brings you to therapy, and discuss the possibility of scheduling an initial consultation.

What to expect

Our work will begin with an initial consultation. You will be offered a thorough assessment where we will take time to carefully consider your life and experiences to help us understand your difficulties and how they impact you at present. Following the initial consultation, I will suggest the most suitable approach for addressing your needs. My approach is realistic, adaptable, and grounded, drawing on my experiences in both NHS and third-sector settings. If I believe that another approach would be better, I will recommend it.

The therapy I offer will be tailored to you. It may be that an initial consultation, consisting of one or two sessions, is what you need to unravel a particular issue. Alternatively, you might prefer a short-term engagement, lasting between 6-16 sessions. Some may seek ongoing therapy. Our approach could be exploratory, aiming to deepen your understanding of yourself, your life, what motivates you, and what might be holding you back. On the other hand, it may be more structured, employing specific strategies and techniques to tackle your difficulties. Regardless of the route we take, our goal is to consider how you would like your life to be, understand your problems, and develop better ways of coping and relating to yourself and others.

Qualifications and Training

There are many different types of therapists and training paths, which can make it challenging for those seeking therapy to discern what is best for them. Below, I have provided some information about my qualifications. I understand it is unlikely that everyone accessing therapy will be aware of the various training routes and what they imply in terms of quality. However, what I would like you to understand from this is that I am highly trained, deeply care about my work, and am committed to helping those who choose to work with me.

I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology from University College London.

This qualification means that I have completed an undergraduate degree, gained substantial experience working in NHS mental health services, and then pursued a doctorate in clinical psychology while employed by and working within the NHS. This training has equipped me with both therapy and research skills at a doctoral level. Many individuals with this qualification go on to assume senior positions in mental health services.

My comprehensive training enables me to consider how evidence-based therapies can benefit individuals in various settings. This flexibility allows me to work in a way that best suits your needs and to draw upon a range of approaches if necessary.

Since qualifying, I have pursued further training in specialist areas such as psychodynamic psychotherapy, Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed approaches.

In my capacity as a senior clinical psychologist for a mental health service, I perform therapy sessions, supervise qualified staff, and provide teaching and supervision to clinical psychologists in training. Additionally, I have extensive experience in offering consultation and training to many allied healthcare professionals.
